Corylus avellana ‘Twister’ is a hardy deciduous shrub favoured for its eye-catching twisted stems that are decorated with yellow male catkins in February and March. The mid-green, heart-like toothed leaves measure up to 10cm (4″) in length. This slow-growing Corkscrew Hazel has a more compact habit than most Corylus avellana varieties making it suitable for growing in a large patio pot or in a shrub border in sun or semi-shade. Growing Information
Grow Hazel plants in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Varieties with coloured foliage will be at thjeir best when grown in full sun. Corylus tolerates alkaline soils well, making it useful in chalky areas.
