Spikes of large, neatly arranged, creamy-white flowers with burgundy blotches, and unusually cut lower petals that give the plants an open, airy feel. Up to five flower stems per plant. Attractive to beneficial insects. Sow early for flowers the same year. Height 120-140cm (4-4 frac12;’). HB – Hardy biennial.

For flowering the same year sow Jan/Feb in trays or pots on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 18-20°C (65-68°F) onto a moist seed compost. Do not exclude light or allow to dry out. Germination 15-20 days. Transplant seedlings into trays 7.5cm (3″) apart and grow on. Plant out about 30-45cm (12-18″) apart for Aug/Sep flowering. Alternatively sow direct outside from March onwards, barely covering the seed and thinning in stages for flowering the following year.
