The premier ‘marrowfat’ variety ideal for making ever-popular mushy peas. Harvest the pods when fully dry and mature and the peas are hard and firm. Peas can also be soaked for stews and casseroles. Can also be eaten fresh when the pods are young – although the peas are less sweet then most garden varieties they do have a distinctive savoury taste.

Growing Information
W = Wrinkled seed. Sow in succession March-June. Allow 60-120cm (2-4′) between rows.Sow thinly direct into soil prepared by digging and raking at a depth of 50mm (2”) in flat drills 15cm (6”) wide in two rows with seed approximately 5cm (2”) apart. Allow 60cm (24”) between further rows. Germination 7-10 days. Support plants with twiggy sticks or pea netting. Grows best in a sunny position in well cultivated soil containing plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Water well during dry weather to aid flower setting and pea formation. Sowing to Cropping: 12-16 weeks.

Allow 90cm (36″) between further rows. Support plants with twiggy sticks or pea netting. Grows best in sunny position in well cultivated soil containing plenty of well-rotted manure or compost. Plants are heavy cropping if picked regularly. Pick small before peas bulge through the pods. Water well during dry weather to aid flower setting and pea formation.
