Leptospermum scoparium ‘Snow Flurry’ is a striking, showy shrub that combines evergreen foliage with abundant, repeat blooming. This medium-sized shrub features graceful, arching branches adorned with slender, dark green leaves, which release a pleasantly aromatic scent when crushed. These leaves contain essential oils with natural antibacterial properties, traditionally used by the M?ori. From late spring through summer, the shrub is covered in an impressive display of long-lasting, double, pure white flowers, which resemble sparkling jewels. The blossoms are rich in nectar and pollen, making it a favorite of pollinators like honeybees, bumblebees, and solitary bees. In fact, it is from Leptospermum that the famous Manuka honey is harvested. This hardy plant thrives in well-drained soils and enjoys a sheltered position, making it ideal for mild or coastal climates. Its compact size makes it suitable for a variety of settings, from gravel gardens to courtyard plantings, or even large containers on a patio, which can be moved to a protected spot during colder months. Growing Information
A borderline hardy shrub – best grown in mild areas of the UK. Grow in a south or west-facing, warm sheltered site in full sun or partial shade, in well drained soil. Water well during establishment, plants are drought tolerant once established. Requires little pruning, just light trimming to keep in shape in after flowering.
